Nowadays many people take different supplements to cleanse their liver. But did you know that you can also use natural food to help with liver detox?

I’m going to tell you five different types of food, which you can easily find in your local supermarket, that’s going to purify and enhance your liver. So you can have a healthier body!

1. Lettuce

If you have excessive liver yang, then you should definitely eat more lettuce. What is excessive liver yang? It means the Yin and Yang of your liver is out of balance, and you have too much Yang energy. If you have red eyes, high blood pressure, experience dizziness, and are easily irritable, then you might have excessive liver heat.

2. Celery

Chinese medicine believes that we all have qi, or vital energy, in our bodies. If it doesn’t flow smoothly, then you will get liver qi stagnation, which might lead to symptoms such as bloated stomach, depression, and swollen breasts (for women). Celery can help to improve the flow of qi in your liver and ease the symptoms.

3. Garlic

If you eat a lot of oily, fatty, and sugary foods, then fat can easily build in your liver and lead to a fatty liver. In Chinese medicine, these fats belong to the category of phlegm. Garlic is a great detox food to help dissolve the phlegm and reduce the fat in your liver. But don’t eat too much of it at one time, as it can harm your eyes. One clove of garlic a day is enough. If you have red eyes, then avoid it.

4. Green Tea

Tea is a great detox drink. In Chinese medicine, we regard tea as the policeman of the body. It helps to remove toxins and harmful substances from your body. Green tea is especially effective for your liver detox. However, if you’re on your period, or if you experience stomachache or diarrhoea after drinking green tea, then reduce the amount or avoid it completely.

5. Black Fungus

Black fungus is a type of edible wild mushroom popular in China. It can nourish and cleanse your blood. In Chinese Medicine, we say that your blood is stored in the liver (the concept of liver in Chinese medicine is slightly different from that of western medicine). Only when the blood entering there liver is clean, will it nourish you. Otherwise, your liver will need to work hard to detox the blood.
